Lock miter shaper cutters are ideal for both right angle joints or flat glue-ups. For 90° joints make the first cut with the stock flat on the shaper table, then make the second cut with the vertically against the fence. Glue joints are made with one piece face down, the other face up. Our premium quality Lock Miter Insert-Pro shaper cutter is 5-1/2″ Diameter and works with stock from 5/8″ to 1-1/8″ thickness.

The unique design of this cutter head allows the fit of the profile to be adjusted for a tighter or looser fit, or to accommodate the change in profile after sharpening. A set of feeler gauges, 1.5mm allen key, and a flat blade screw driver are all that is needed to precisely adjust the profile for your desired fit.

To adjust, loosen the stop on the bottom of the cutter head that has been marked and loosen the internal set screw. Remove the corresponding knife. Insert a feeler gauge between the cutter body and the stop. The stock spacing is .020”. For I tighter fitting profile reduce the spacing. For a looser fitting profile, increase the spacing. We recommend making changes in no more than .002” increments until the desired fit is achieved. Tighten the stop screw against the feeler gauge by hand then tighten the internal set screw in the stop. Reinstall the knife and make a test cut confirm fit.

Item 84-081 includes one cutter head, two knives, and one installation wrench. Make sure to buy an extra set of knives (CIK-081) so you always have a sharp set ready to go. Replacement knives are sold individually.
