When connected to a reliable network, you can reduce operating costs and maximize ROI by bypassing service fees entirely.
The GRACO Pulse® Level Ultrasonic Wi-Fi Tank Monitor (model 25T460 / GR25T460) is a practical option for monitoring your water storage tank, with a few considerations to keep in mind.
Tank Height & Measurement Range
If your tank is 10 feet tall. The Pulse Level sensor uses ultrasonic technology and has a measurement range from about 5 inches up to 9 feet 7 inches. That means it won’t read the bottom 5 inches of your tank. For most applications, this is not a problem—especially if your “low water” alarm is set several inches above the floor—but it’s worth noting. Accuracy is within ±1 inch.
Wi-Fi Requirements
The monitor connects via standard 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. At around 150 feet between your pumphouse and home router, signal strength is a “maybe.” If your phone shows strong Wi-Fi at the pumphouse, the monitor will likely work fine. If not, you may need a Wi-Fi extender, mesh node, or outdoor access point positioned closer to the pumphouse. The sensor should also not be fully encased in metal, as that will block its signal.
Operation & Alerts
No special phone app is required. Instead:
During setup, you connect your phone to the monitor’s temporary Wi-Fi hotspot and configure it through a browser at 192.168.4.1 by entering your home Wi-Fi credentials.
After setup, you view your tank levels and configure alarms through GRACO’s secure web portal at level.gracopulse.com. You can log in from any smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Alerts are sent by email, which can be received as standard notifications on your smartphone or even as text messages if you use your carrier’s email-to-text feature.
Installation & Fittings
The device installs into a standard NPT pipe thread at the top of your tank (supported sizes: 1-1/4”, 1-1/2”, or 2” NPT). If your tank doesn’t already have a threaded bung, the kit includes a top-mount adapter and foam gasket so you can mount it directly. Do not use thread sealant on the ABS threads. About 7.5 inches of clearance above the unit is recommended.
Environmental Considerations
Rated IP67 (weather and splash resistant).
Operating temperature: 0 °F to 122 °F.
Powered by a 3.6 V lithium C-cell battery, typically lasting up to 7.5 years under normal use (with good Wi-Fi signal and one upload per day).
Summary
The Pulse Level Wi-Fi Monitor is a solid, low-maintenance solution. It provides reliable web-based monitoring and email alerts without requiring a proprietary phone app.
